On Wednesday night Swansea City makes a visit to Vicarage Road where they will face Watford in a match between fellow Championship midtable teams.

The two teams last played against each other in PL in 2017 but now neither holds enough potential to reach the championship playoffs during the final stretch of the current season.

Watford's push toward the table positions took a turn for the worse when they dropped a 2-1 defeat in their home match against Millwall at the weekend.

All of Tom Cleverley's team had secured Middlesbrough and Luton Town victories as well as drawing against Stoke City without allowing a goal in their last three matches before the weekend match at Vicarage Road but still lost in regulation time.

Cleverley now faces a massive job crisis because Watford sits six points behind playoff spots and speculation earlier claimed his firing was imminent.

On Sunday Cleverley reached a 365-day milestone that no other Watford manager including Javi Gracia had achieved since his arrival in 2019 and Watford supporters continue to hold hope for this current season's success.

The Hornets secured approximately sixty percent of their points while playing at Vicarage Road this season even though Swansea matches have remained unprofitable in recent games.

Games between Watford and the opposition resulted in home team victories in all four of their six Premier League encounters from 2015 through 2017, yet these same teams played eight matches since then with Watford winning only two games while scoring more than once once throughout all matches.
Swansea visitors show confidence from their recent success even though promotion playoff ambitions have faded away.

Swansea, like Watford before to their loss over the weekend, have now won seven of their previous three games while maintaining a clean sheet each time. Eom Ji-sung's goal against Boro over the weekend sealed a 1-0 victory.

Alan Sheehan's team has held their opponents at bay in two of their past three away games, which is as many times as they had done in the 22 away games before, after a 0-0 draw against Preston North End in their most recent away encounter.

With just ten games left, the Swans are 11 points outside of the top six, which will undoubtedly eliminate them from playoff contention. However, the distance to the relegation zone is much greater, making them one of three clubs with little left to play for, along with Preston and QPR.
