Valencia will host Getafe at the Estadio de Mestalla on Saturday, looking to extend their impressive run and climb into the top half of the La Liga standings.
Currently positioned 12th, Valencia have surged three points ahead of Getafe, thanks to an unbeaten run spanning nine La Liga matches. They are just two points shy of 10th place, reflecting their strong form under manager Carlos Corberan.
Since taking charge at the start of the year, when Valencia were languishing near the bottom with only 12 points from 17 games, Corberan has transformed their fortunes, amassing 30 points in the subsequent 17 league matches.
His tenure has seen Valencia secure eight wins and suffer just three losses, with their latest result being a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Las Palmas. Hugo Duro’s brace and an own goal by Alex Suarez sealed the win, despite a late response from Oli McBurnie.
With four matches left, Valencia, now eyeing a European spot as they sit two points behind eighth place, aim to secure consecutive victories and maintain their upward trajectory.
Getafe, on the other hand, arrive at Mestalla desperate to halt a four-game losing streak that has seen them slip down the La Liga table. Earlier in the year, they enjoyed a strong run, collecting 23 points from 12 matches, including a 4-0 thrashing of Real Valladolid, which propelled them to 11th. However, their recent skid has cost them ground, and they now hope to overtake Valencia with a much-needed win on Saturday.
In the meantime, their guests travel to the Estadio de Mestalla with the goal of snapping a four-game losing streak, regaining their position above the hosts, and halting their decline in the La Liga standings.
Getafe moved into 11th place over a 12-match stretch from the start of the new year to the beginning of April, amassing seven victories and 23 points, including a 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid on the road. However, after four straight losses, they have since dropped out of the top half.
After losing to Las Palmas and Espanyol, Jose Bordalas' team hosted Real Madrid and narrowly lost after Arda Guler scored the lone goal in the first half. This was the most recent three-point haul.
Last Friday, the Azulones traveled to Rayo Vallecano, where Florian Lejeune's goal in the seventh minute proved the difference, as they were unable to break out of their rut.
Getafe will be eager to end their losing streak on Saturday and climb back above their hosts and within striking distance of the top half, as they now lie in 13th place with four games left.
