V. Bologna vs Baskonia

Saski Baskonia will be the guest of Virtus Bologna as they wrap off their regular season in the 2023–24 EuroLeague. They are tied with their eighth-place opponents going into this game and are in ninth position in the rankings. Bologna's record (17–16) is identical to Baskonia's, who hold the advantage in points difference. Both teams might face off in the play-in round now that they are eliminated from contention for an automatic playoff berth. If this is Bologna's destiny, then victory here would be ideal.

Bologna defeated Venezia 89-70 away from home in the Serie A to end a streak of three straight losses. Their performance kept them competitive in the domestic league championship race. In their previous nine games, Luca Banchi's team has only won twice due to their recent struggles. In Europe, they have already lost six straight games. But they will be optimistic about winning because they have defeated Baskonia in their past two meetings. Bologna is averaging 79.9 points in the EuroLeague; they were defeated by Milan the previous time they played in Europe.

Like Bologna, Baskonia is limited to finishing eighth. They will play Maccabi Tel Aviv in the play-in game if they win this one. This season is the first that Baskonia will participate in the postseason since the 2018–19 campaign. For them, the play-in's introduction has been a relief. The Spanish team has nearly missed the playoffs in previous seasons. Valencia beat Baskonia 111-101 last time out.

Their two-match winning streak was ended by the away defeat, which dropped them out of the Liga ACB playoff picture. The last time these guys played in Europe, Dusko Ivanovic's team stunned league leaders Real Madrid 95-91. The victory on the road ended a three-match losing streak in the league. Due to a leg injury, Vanja Marinkovic was unable to play in Baskonia's domestic league match last weekend. The visitors average 83.9 points per game and are rated seventh in Europe for offensive efficiency.

This season, Bologna has performed best in Europe when playing at home. On their travels, however, this hasn't been the case for Baskonia, as nine of their 16 losses have occurred when they were traveling. Given that Bologna has the advantage in this matchup as well, Baskonia may be in for another road loss.
