Team USA is one of just four teams in the FIBA Basketball World Cup with an unblemished 4-0 record. Among them is Lithuania, led by Jonas Valanciunas of the Pelicans, setting the stage for an exciting matchup this Sunday.

Team USA hasn't faced much resistance so far, winning by an average of 28.8 points per game. Lithuania has also been dominant, winning by an average of 25.3 points per game.

While Lithuania remains undefeated in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, they haven't encountered the caliber of talent that Team USA brings. These two teams are set to clash on September 3 in a game that will determine which team keeps their undefeated streak alive.

Jonas Valanciunas stands out as Lithuania's lone NBA-level talent. Nevertheless, Lithuania's size and physicality could pose challenges for Team USA, a weakness that Steve Kerr's squad has occasionally struggled with.

However, Team USA's depth is likely to be the difference-maker, with their highly talented bench consistently making a significant impact in World Cup games.

During the initial tournament phase, Team USA secured victories against New Zealand, Greece, and Jordan with relative ease under Steve Kerr's leadership. In the first round of the second phase, they defeated Montenegro 85-73, although Montenegro showed resilience, particularly on the boards, which highlighted a potential vulnerability for Team USA.

Lithuania's style of play, as coached by Kazys Maksvytis, differed notably from that of Kerr's Team USA. While the U.S. exhibited some weaknesses, especially in the first half against New Zealand and in this round against Montenegro, their superior quality ultimately prevailed. However, such contests could boost the confidence of opposing teams.

Team USA struggled with three-point shooting (5/19) and free throws (20/30) in the Montenegro game, areas that need improvement as the competition intensifies.

Lithuania maintained their strong performance in the second phase, overcoming Greece 92-67 after a somewhat slower start. They showcased exceptional three-point shooting, hitting an impressive 15/24 from beyond the arc. This, combined with solid rebounding and 25 assists, contributed to their convincing win. Rokas Jokubaitis led the charge with 19 points and six assists, with three other teammates reaching double figures.

Typically considered a dark horse, Lithuania's flawless record after their clash with Greece has put them in the spotlight. The upcoming match could be a significant test for both Maksvytis' team and their opponent, and it's clear that tactics will play a crucial role in this showdown involving one of the tournament's top teams.
