St Mirren will play their opening match of the 2024–25 Scottish Premiership on Sunday at St Mirren Park against Hibernian.

With 47 points from 38 games, the host team placed fifth in the Scottish Premiership previous season, while the visitors came in eighth with 46 points.

At the conclusion of the 2023–24 season, the hosts had collected 47 points, which was just three more than they had throughout the 33-game regular season.

St. Mirren finished as the division's joint eighth-best offensive and joint fifth-best defensive club last season with 46 goals scored and 52 goals given up.

It should also be mentioned that that the Saints concluded the league season very poorly, claiming the last 6 of the last 9 games.

Nonetheless, the form in post-season has been better; for the home team, they have not been defeated in the six games they have played after the end of the season, the previous season 2023-24; they had a conclusive 4-1 aggregate win over Valur when participating in the second qualifying round of the Conference League.

Shaun Rooney will remember his opening goal in the second leg of that tie on August 1 because it was the first goal the saints scored in a European competition match for 37 years.

Currently leading the team is manager Stephen Robinson whom was appointed in February 2022, his total management record stands at ;W37 D21 L47.

Robinson’s side struggled on their own soil in the league last season in fact they could not win their last four games at St Mirren Park; they lost their last six of the last eleven games.

Hibernian, the team against which the current Hearts finished ended the 2023-24 season with 46 points which were six points below what the club registered in the previous season of 2022-23.

The visitors claimed 52 goals and suffered 59 goals in the league last season, which was fifth in terms of goals scoring and joint eighth in terms of conceding goals out of all the teams.

Since the end of 2023-24 season, the performance status of Hibs has been good given that they have won six out of the eight post season matches with a 4-0 smashing of Peterhead in the Scottish League cup on July 27. The away team has gone ahead to play four games in the next season’s League Cup and they have emerged victorious in three of the games, they have also qualified to the next round in the competition, in the group stages.

David Gray ruling the Manchester United for the third time as a caretaker but appointed permanently in June will also be eyeing his side to improve their poor form away from home premises in the premiership. Anti Hibs have won just 4 of their last 24 away games and have drawn 12 in total in this sequence.
