On Friday night in Serie A, Jose Mourinho will sit out Roma's home game against AC Milan.

Milan's flawless start has made them small favorites in one of the outstanding games in what appears to be a jam-packed weekend of Serie A action.

Due to misdemeanors from last season, Mourinho has already come under fire after Roma's shaky start without him. He has also been serving a touchline suspension.

Romelu Lukaku's loan from Chelsea is expected to help Roma's situation, especially with Tammy Abraham sidelined for the long term with a major knee injury.

Despite scoring twice on the first day, Mourinho has never liked Andrea Belotti, thus Lukaku will work with the manager who brought him to Manchester United in 2017.

This summer, Roma has welcomed a lot of new players, but Mourinho has been brutally honest in saying that each of them has something to prove because, in his opinion, no player who had a strong season would have chosen to join the club.

In a season that was primarily unsatisfactory, Lukaku did display some encouraging traits. He played a key role in helping Inter Milan win Serie A and secure Champions League eligibility late in the season, but his disastrous performance in the championship game still sticks in the mind.

However, Sardar Azmoun, Leandro Paredes, Renato Sanches, and Houssem Aouar all arrived out of shape, and the latter two are still sidelined due to injuries.

After earning just one point from two winnable season-opening contests, Mourinho needs a response from his team.

On the first day, Salernitana and the Giallorossi were drawn 2-2 at the Stadio Olimpico thanks to a stunning performance by former Lazio player Antonio Candreva.

Then, Roma lost to Hellas Verona 2-1 at the Bentegodi, with a dismal first-half performance having a detrimental effect.

Roma hasn't lost their first three league games since the 2011–12 campaign, so they have a tall order to avoid repeating that record this year.

That is a result of AC Milan's outstanding start, which has put them in first place with a spotless record thus far and the greatest goal differential in the league.

Mike Maignan and Olivier Giroud of France each contributed at either end of the field to help Stefano Pioli's team defeat Bologna 2-0 to start the season.

New signature Christian Pulisic got two goals in his debut and another in last weekend's 4-1 rout of Torino.

The US international moved to the top of the Serie A scoring charts after Giroud also converted two penalties in the blowout. The US international became just the sixth player in Milan's history to score in both of his first two league games.

The four teams with the most points are Milan, Napoli, Verona, and Inter, but given the style of their victories, the Rossoneri have appeared to be the most impressive.
