When Rayo Vallecano plays Leganes at home on Saturday afternoon in their 2024–25 campaign, they will be trying to extend their winning streak to four games.

Leganes finished a three-game losing streak in Spain's top division with a 1-1 draw at Getafe in their most recent game, while Inigo Perez's team comes into the encounter fresh off a 0-0 tie with Girona.

Although Rayo underperformed in the previous season, finishing 17th in the table after a challenging campaign, the capital team is off to a strong start in 2024–25.

In fact, they have collected nine points from their seven games—two victories, three draws, and two losses—to place them in 10th place in the standings, four points above the relegation zone.

After losing their opening two games in August to Barcelona and Espanyol, Perez's team had a solid September, defeating Osasuna 3-1 following the international break and holding Atletico Madrid and Girona to draws in their subsequent games.

This encounter will be the first between the two teams since June 2021. Rayo has won the last two meetings between the two teams, while Leganes' most recent triumph over Saturday's opponents dates back to December 2020.

Rayo is enjoying their finest season of league football since 2016. They will be vying for a fifth consecutive La Liga title with a strong 2024–25 campaign.

Leganes won the Segunda Division championship the previous season, securing the team's return to La Liga after four seasons in the lower division.

El Lega has played seven games this season, winning one, drawing three, and losing three. With six points, they are in 15th place in the standings, one point above the relegation zone.

Before defeating Las Palmas 2-1, Borja Jimenez's team began the season with a 1-1 draw against Osasuna. However, they had only won two of their previous five games, losing to Mallorca, Real Betis, and Athletic Bilbao before the September international break.

Leganes, however, comes into this game on the heels of a successful result, drawing 1-1 with Getafe the previous weekend. Jorge Saenz gave the promoted team the lead in the 76th minute of play, but Borja Mayoral tied the score in the 83rd minute with a penalty kick.

Alfonso Espino and Diego Mendez will be absent for Rayo once more for this Saturday's match, and Pep Chavarria is a serious doubt after being substituted out in the first half of the team's previous match against Girona.

Andrei Ratiu would return to defense while Jorge de Frutos, a Spaniard, is expected to be added to the starting lineup. Jorge de Frutos could be the player who gains the most from this.

Leganes' Naim Garcia and Yvan Neyou are remain sidelined, but no new injuries have been reported as a result of the match against Getafe.

Miguel de la Fuente is anticipated to be supported by Rodriguez and Munir El Haddadi in the latter third of the field if head coach Jimenez decides to stick with a 3-4-3 formation.
