Paris Saint-Germain is yet to secure their first victory in Ligue 1 this season as they gear up to host Lens at the Parc des Princes on Saturday evening.

Lens finished just one point behind reigning champions PSG in the previous season, but both teams have struggled to find their footing in the 2023-24 season.

In the opening weekend, Paris Saint-Germain played to a goalless draw against Lorient despite their dominant performance on their home turf. They managed to take 20 shots while preventing their opponents from even registering a single shot on target.

Despite their commanding display in the previous game, the team led by Luis Enrique faltered again, settling for a 1-1 draw against Toulouse. Despite boasting 77% possession and taking 16 shots, PSG couldn't capitalize on their dominance. Although Kylian Mbappe's penalty seemed to set them on the path to their first victory of the season, a late foul committed by Achraf Hakimi resulted in a penalty for the hosts, which Zakaria Aboukhlal successfully converted in the 87th minute.

Even though Les Parisiens secured their ninth Ligue 1 title in 11 years during the last season, they had their flaws, losing seven out of 38 matches and conceding 40 goals - 11 more than the runners-up, Lens.

It's important to note that Lens had fewer defeats than PSG in the previous season, and they challenged the perennial champions until the very end, falling just one point short. As a result, the team is eager to surpass their previous performance this time around.

However, Lens has also had a disappointing start in the current campaign, earning only one point from two games and dropping five points from winning positions. Despite gaining a 2-0 lead against Brest within 22 minutes on the opening weekend, they ended up losing 3-2 due to conceding three goals. Similarly, they took an early lead against Rennes in the following week, but once again failed to maintain it, allowing a second-half penalty to level the score.

Having taken eight shots against Brest and 15 attempts against Rennes, Lens had their fair share of chances in both matches. Nevertheless, they squandered multiple opportunities on both occasions and clearly felt the absence of Lois Openda, who had moved to RB Leipzig.

With the upcoming match against PSG, the pressure will predominantly be on the reigning champions, allowing Lens to approach the game with a sense of liberation at the Parc des Princes and seize the initiative against the struggling titleholders.

As the curtains rise on another thrilling Ligue 1 season, all eyes are set on the clash between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and RC Lens. Scheduled to take place at the iconic Parc des Princes, this match promises an electrifying start to the French football season. PSG, perennial title contenders, will square off against Lens, a team that made an impressive return to the top-flight last season. The contrasting aspirations of these two teams set the stage for a captivating showdown.

PSG, a powerhouse of both domestic and international football, enters the season with their eyes fixed firmly on recapturing the Ligue 1 title. With an enviable squad bolstered by talents like Kylian Mbappé and Neymar, they aim to assert their dominance from the very beginning. Mauricio Pochettino, in his second full season at the helm, seeks to fine-tune his tactical approach and integrate new signings effectively. The absence of veteran center-back Sergio Ramos due to injury could be a minor setback, but PSG's depth ensures they won't be short on options.

On the other side, RC Lens approaches this fixture with a mix of determination and ambition. After a commendable return to the top division last season, Lens managed a mid-table finish and displayed a fearless approach against even the toughest opponents. Their attacking style, marked by swift transitions and quick ball movement, poses a challenge for any opposition. Manager Franck Haise's ability to keep his team organized while encouraging expressive football will be put to the test against the Parisian giants.

Historically, encounters between these two sides have often been high-scoring and unpredictable, with moments of brilliance and upsets galore. Lens, however, faces the daunting task of breaching PSG's defense, marshaled by the experienced Marquinhos. Their success might hinge on the form of forward Gael Kakuta, whose creative flair and ability to find the back of the net could trouble PSG's defense.
