Nacional vs Atletico Nacional

With only pride left to play for, Nacional will host Atletico Nacional at Estadio Gran Parque Central on Wednesday evening in their final Copa Libertadores group stage match.

That means Nacional will be playing purely for pride in front of their home fans in Montevideo, with their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages already dashed.

While their continental campaign has been disappointing, Nacional have enjoyed better form domestically. They’ve secured back-to-back home wins over Defensor Sporting and Progreso, scoring three goals and conceding just once across those two matches. In all competitions, they've won five of their last six outings.

However, their Libertadores home form has been poor, losing both matches at Estadio Gran Parque Central to Internacional and Bahia without scoring in either fixture.

On the other hand, Atletico Nacional head into the tie with their sights set on topping Group F. Despite recent setbacks in their domestic league — suffering back-to-back defeats to Aguilas Doradas and title contenders Junior FC — they remain in pole position in the Copa Libertadores standings.

In their most recent league outing, Los Verdolagas fell short in a 3-2 thriller but showed resilience, with goals from Billy Arce and Kevin Viveros, the latter assisted by Alfredo Morelos. The 28-year-old forward continues to make a notable impact, contributing six goals and six assists across 17 top-flight appearances this season.

Victory on Wednesday would secure Atletico Nacional’s position as Group F winners, adding extra motivation as they look to wrap up the group stage on a high note.
