Mallorca vs Real Valladolid

Mallorca will be aiming to revive their European qualification hopes when they welcome already-relegated Real Valladolid to Estadi Mallorca Son Moix on Saturday evening in La Liga action.

The Pirates currently sit 10th in the La Liga table, level on 49 points with eighth-placed Rayo Vallecano, who occupy the UEFA Conference League playoff spot. Despite their recent slump in form—two consecutive 1-0 losses to Barcelona and Girona—Jagoba Arrasate’s side remain firmly in the hunt for continental football. They are just two points shy of seventh-placed Celta Vigo, keeping their Europa League aspirations alive heading into the final weeks of the season.

Mallorca’s home form has been a relative strength, collecting 24 points from 17 matches at Son Moix. Their opponents, Real Valladolid, have endured a woeful away campaign in 2024–25, losing 16 of their 17 matches on the road and conceding a staggering 53 goals. The Pirates will look to capitalize on this vulnerability, especially having already beaten Valladolid 2-1 earlier this season and securing a 1-0 win in the same fixture last January.

For Real Valladolid, the end of the season cannot come soon enough. Alvaro Rubio’s side are rock bottom of the league with just 16 points from 34 games. Relegation to the Segunda Division has been confirmed, and the focus has already shifted to rebuilding for a promotion push in 2025–26. The team is in dire form, winless since January 11 and currently on an eight-match losing streak. Offensively blunt and defensively fragile, Valladolid have scored a league-low 25 goals while shipping a league-high 83.

Several players are expected to leave this summer, with the squad set for an overhaul. The club hopes a refreshed lineup can make them competitive again in the Segunda Division next season.
