The next team of the Magic is the coming Thursday within the second game of the back-to-back games while the next is a home match against the Los Angeles Lakers. That has put the Lakers on winning spree and they are now ranked third in the Western Conference. That has been the case for the Magic as they too are third in the Eastern Conference.
A series stigma exists, especially for the Magic because the Lakers have dominated the past ten games as per records starting from the year 2019. The Lakers was on a seven game winning run until the magic snapped that in the early part of last season. Well, it is high time we are back with our NBA odds series and our Magic-Lakers prediction and a pick.
The Magic struggled in early November when they were defeated in the four straight games on the road by Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers. Still, they have been non-favorites in each of those encounters. Orlando was much more viable in their last six, and it started to play the favorite part, winning all of the games, including this one, and covering the spread.
Check out how similar the Lakers and Magic seasons have been to this point of the season, it is quite funny. The Lakers were on fire at the start of the season cooling off only at the start of November But now they are back on the spree and on a six game winning streak. Still, it has not been entirely rosy for the Lakers; this move has especially come at the wrong time for the bettors on the side of the Los Angeles NBA team.
The Lakers were terrible for last three games and in two of those games they did not even manage to cover the spread. It’s here where the two teams are quite alike in the sense that they’ve faced a more palatable timetable in the past six games. If you believe the sheer talent of the Lakers will be enough to overcome the Magic, then you should back Los Angeles but their recent track record may well give you nightmares.
Although the Lakers' defense is their worst weakness, they won't be intimidated by the Magic's offensive prowess. With 106.9 points per game, Orlando is now ranked 28th in the league. They will also be playing the second night of a back-to-back, which may further exhaust their shooting legs.
Both sides have struggled away from home and are unbeaten at home. According to my Magic vs. Lakers predictions, the home team should continue to win as the Los Angeles Lakers are on a six-game winning streak.
At home, the Orlando Magic have a perfect 7-0 record straight up and a 6-1 record against the spread. Orlando, however, has labored to 2-7 SU and ATS records when traveling.
Orlando's season-opening schedule has been comparatively simple. Only five teams with a winning record have faced them, and they have lost all four of those games by a margin of -51 points. The Magic lost all four of their games against winning teams by 11 points or more, with the exception of defeating Phoenix, who were shorthanded.
The Magic only average 102.1 points per game away from home, which is good for third-worst, while the Los Angeles Lakers score a monstrous 122.1 points per game, which is the second-highest average.
At 102.1 points per game, the Magic have given up the fewest points to opponents overall; but, they are 94.7 points at home and 108.2 points away from home. The Magic have a -6.1 away record, while the Lakers have a +7.4 point advantage at home.
