This is the first time both John and Jim Harbaugh, the head coaches for the Ravens and the Chargers respectively, will be on two opposing teams and it will be the eve of Super Bowl 47. San Diego Chargers are headed to MNF with four consecutive victories and the team is under the guidance of Jim Harbaugh. The previous domestic match, the Los Angeles also won with the score 34:27 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The home side coached by John Harbaugh, the Ravens, had their two-game winning run brought to a stop. In Week 11, the Pittsburgh Steelers was able to defeat the Ravens with a score of 18-16.

The Baltimore Ravens have lost both of their road games. At Acrisure Stadium, they recently lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 18–16. The Ravens had 124 rushing yards and 205 passing yards. This adds up to 329 yards in total. They collected 16 first downs and scored two touchdowns.
The Los Angeles Chargers won their most recent game for the fourth time in a row. defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 34-27 at home at SoFi Stadium. The Chargers amassed 435 yards overall, 280 passing and 155 rushing. Four touchdowns were scored by them. Two rushing and two passing touchdowns.
The Ravens have defeated the Chargers twice in a row. They won 34-6 at M&T Bank Stadium and 20-10 at SoFi Stadium. In their two prior confrontations, John defeated his brother Jim; the most recent of these was during the Ravens' victory over Jim and the 49ers in Super Bowl 47. Since Jim returned to the NFL following a national title with the Michigan Wolverines, this will be the first time the brother head coaches have faced each other.
