Looking to place them closer to the ranks within the top two of the Championship, Leeds United is set to host lowly Coventry City at the Elland Road on Saturday in the Championship.

The Whites made a simple two-nil victory at the ground of the Red Birds the last time they were in action, whilst Sky Blues remained a nightmare for themselves and attracted another lowly draw with Swansea City in the East midlands.

For the fourth time in the last five matches in the Championship, Leeds United was quite comfortable to maintain a clean sheet last weekend, when the Saturday’s hosts went to South Wales and put the final clincher on Erol Bulut’s grave at the Cardiff City Stadium.

A sending-off of Bluebirds left-back Joel Bagan after 23 minutes gave the Whites an advantage of control of midfield, going into the interval; the final half was characterized by the rise of Largie Ramazani for a first goal of his tenure at the team and the second goal of the season by Joel Piroe.

However, there were concerns about the formation set up in the middle of the park in the win against Cardiff City, majority of the fans was unhappy with Farke’s choice of double pivot of Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev given that they had more players to handle.

However, a regular successful match in Wales took the Whites to the sixth place In the Championship table as the October internationals come nearby, thereby trailing early Championship leaders West Bromwich Albion by not less than five points and second placed Sunderland who have had an amazing start to the season under Regis Le Bris.

Before construction on a new stadium with a 53,000 capacity for Elland Road starts, Leeds have to create some form of favorable run at their Yorkshire base in terms of outcomes and Farke’s team has only emerged victorious in a single of their four contests at the stadium in the both domestic cups and European play this season.

Coventry City has seen a significant drop in performances and results in recent weeks, after going four games without a loss in August in both the Championship and the EFL Cup. Their winless streak in the second tier now stands at four games after a 2-1 loss to Swansea City last Saturday.

The Sky Blues gave themselves a mountain to climb later in the game when they gave up two goals in the first 32 minutes from Liam Cullen and Oliver Cooper. Ronald Pereira's own goal gave the hosts a slight advantage, but they were unable to find an equalizing goal in the East Midlands during the second half.

With only two points from their last four Championship games, Coventry is presently mired in 19th place in the second division rankings with a pitiful five points. They are already six points below their opponents Leeds, who are currently occupying the bottom playoff berth, this Saturday.

Head coach Mark Robins will also be particularly concerned about the Sky Blues' long-term performance. Since early April, Coventry has won just one of their last 12 Championship games, which means that for a significant portion of the year, the team has a record that has been associated with relegation candidates. This weekend's visitors will be facing this situation.

Haji Wright and Ellis Simms, who combined to score 29 goals in the 2023–24 season, are finding it difficult to get things going for Coventry this time around. In their 12 divisional outings thus far, the offensive pair has only scored twice.

Ao Tanaka, who has been playing off the bench lately, is getting closer to making his Leeds debut in full, but it's doubtful that Farke will move Gruev or Ampadu from the starting lineup after the team's victory in Cardiff last weekend.

Dan James, a Wales international, is still out for the Whites while he recovers from a hamstring injury sustained earlier this month.

It's unclear if Max Wober and Manor Solomon, a Tottenham Hotspur loanee, will be able to play this time around after being left out of the team last Saturday.

Coventry supporters are eager to learn more about Jamie Allen's apparent significant knee injury after the 29-year-old was substituted during the first half of the team's loss to Swansea.
