In the Turkish Super League's fifth round on Sunday, Kasimpsa will host Fenerbahce with the goal of securing their first home victory of the year.

With ten straight wins over the hosts, the Yellow Canaries head to the Recep Erdogan Stadium hoping to build on their remarkable four-year record.

In their final match before the international break, Kasimpasa defeated Caykur Rizespor 1-0 at the Caykur Didi to record their first victory of the 2024–25 Super Lig season on August 31.

Ben Ouanes' well-executed team play in the sixth minute gave the Apaciler the lead, but they responded with a strong defensive effort to deny Rizespor and secure all three points.

Before then, Kasimpasa had opened the season with a close 3-2 loss to Konyaspor in Istanbul on August 10 and had since drawn stalemates with Hatayspor and Adana Demirspor.

Building on the strong display of the last campaign which saw them finish fifth in Premiership rugby –their best run since returning to the English top tier in 2012, head coach Sami Ugurlu and his men will be happy with how they have started the new campaign, as they seek a good run in this early portion of the season.

Kasimpsa will hope to continue their momentum before the break while the opposing side will be coming into the game with a confidence having emerged victorious in each of the last 10 matches since a 2-0 win in June 2020.

Fenerbahce however put up a super team performance in the past game as they defeated Alanyaspor with an emphatic 3-0 performance at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

The hosts Serbian international Dusan Tadic made the day bright for the host with goals on either side of the half-time break while the Bosnia and Herzegovina international Edin Dzeko made sure his team extends its lead by making the score line 3-0 in the early of 67th minute of the match.

Fenerbahce remain unbeaten in their last six games after a 2-1 loss to Lille in a Champions League third qualifying round match on August 6 – winning four, drawing two and scoring 12 goals as well as keeping three shutouts.

In the last season, Mourinho’s team finished second and in Super Lig this season, they have played four matches by getting 10 points in total and would hope to increase it by 3 points in this fixture to go 4 points ahead this weekend.

Fenerbahce travel to the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium as the league leaders with a record that has seen the team finish 30 of their league games without a loss, with 23 wins and seven draws since they lost 3-2 to Trabzonspor on November 4.

The Moroccan midfielder Loret Sadiku is doubtful for Kasimpasa after being pulled off injured against Caykur Rizespor midway through the second half of their most recent match.

If he is unable to recover from the injury, Cafu, a former Nottingham Forest player, may enter the game and partner with German midfielder Gokhan Gul to create a two-man midfield pivot.

Veteran striker Josip Brekalo, 26, just joined Apacilera from Serie A team Fiorentina, and he may make his debut this weekend.

Bright Osayi-Samuel, a Nigerian international, has been out of action for Fenerbahce for the past two games due to a foot injury sustained against Goztepe on August 17.
