In their last friendly match before the 2023 AFC Asian Cup in Doha, Japan will play Jordan on Tuesday.

On New Year's Day, Japan played a friendly match against Thailand at the Japan National Stadium, winning 5-0. In the 50th minute, Ao Tanaka scored the first goal. Keito Nakamura, Takumu Kawamura, and Takumi Minamino all scored.

Jordan defeated Qatar, the current champions, 2-1 in a friendly match played on Friday. In the eleventh minute, Akram Afif broke the tie for Qatar from the penalty spot. In the 51st minute, Ali Olwan converted the game-winning penalty kick, and seven minutes later, Yazan Al-Naimat restored the equalizer.

On Sunday, Japan, the runners-up from the last tournament, will play Vietnam in the Asian Cup. On Monday, Jordan will play their first-ever match of the campaign against Malaysia. The two sides will play each other in a friendly for the first time after meeting six times already in all competitions. With three victories, Japan leads the head-to-head record as predicted. In this series, Jordan has only triumphed once, with two games ending in draws.Out of their six matches, just two have resulted in more than 2.5 goals. When they last faced each other, Japan won 2-0 in the Asian Cup 2015 group stage.Japan has won nine straight games in all competitions, with at least four goals scored in each of those eight games.Jordan defeated Qatar 2-1 on Friday to get back to winning ways after seven games. They have lost seven of their previous ten games overall.

The Samurai Blue are in excellent form going into the game, having won nine straight and keeping a clean sheet in their last four contests. They will want to continue their recent winning streak of three games with a 5-0 score.

Hajime Moriyasu, the head coach, has taken a 26-man roster—some significant absences included—to Qatar. Along with Kyogo Furuhashi and Daichi Kamada, Ao Tanaka, who scored goals in their 5-0 victory over Thailand, was left off the roster.

In a friendly on Friday, Al-Nashama stunned the defending Asian Cup champions Qatar, and they'll want to keep up the good work tonight. It was head coach Hussein Ammouta's first victory, and he will probably remain with the same starting lineup from that game.

Given the two teams' recent performances and Japan's edge in the head-to-head record, we predict them to win easily.
