Trinidad and Tobago aim for a third consecutive win as they face Jamaica in the Unity Cup semi-final on Tuesday evening.
The Soca Warriors last played on March 25, securing a 4-0 win against Cuba in a Gold Cup qualifier, while Jamaica triumphed 3-0 over Saint Vincent & the Grenadines in their most recent qualifier.
Under Steve McClaren, who took over as Jamaica's head coach in August 2024, the Reggae Boyz have recorded five wins, three draws, and two losses in 10 matches. In 2025, Jamaica faced Trinidad and Tobago in two friendlies, winning 1-0 and drawing 1-1. They also played Saint Vincent & the Grenadines twice in Gold Cup qualifiers, drawing 1-1 before winning 3-0.
Jamaica sit second in their 2026 World Cup qualification group, earning six points from victories over the Dominican Republic and Dominica. Their next Group E matches are against the British Virgin Islands and Guatemala in early June. Jamaica’s only World Cup appearance was in 1998, where they won one group-stage match but didn’t advance.
The Unity Cup’s first semi-final pits Jamaica against Trinidad and Tobago, with Nigeria and Ghana clashing in the other semi-final on Wednesday. The winners will meet in the final on May 31.
Trinidad and Tobago, led by former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke since November 2024, have two wins, one draw, and two losses in five matches under his management. The Soca Warriors come into this game after back-to-back victories against Cuba in Gold Cup qualifiers and have faced Jamaica twice this year in friendlies, losing 1-0 and drawing 1-1.
In 2026 World Cup qualifying, Trinidad and Tobago are second in their group with four points, drawing 2-2 with Grenada and thrashing the Bahamas 7-1. They will resume their campaign against Saint Kitts and Nevis on June 7, followed by Costa Rica on June 11. Their lone World Cup appearance was in 2006, where they earned one point in the group stage but failed to progress.
