Ipswich Town, aiming to conclude a challenging campaign positively, host West Ham United at Portman Road for a Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

The Tractor Boys' struggles persisted in their recent defeat at Leicester City, while West Ham fell to Nottingham Forest in their latest outing.

After securing promotion from the Championship last season, Ipswich marked their return to the Premier League after over 20 years. However, the East Anglian side has found the top flight tough, facing likely relegation back to the second tier.

Ipswich's winless streak stretched to seven games last weekend, with Leicester’s Jamie Vardy and young talent Kasey McAteer sealing victory for the Foxes at the King Power Stadium in a match between two teams set to exit the Premier League soon. With only two points from their last seven matches, Kieran McKenna’s squad sits 19th in the table, a daunting 16 points adrift of safety in 17th-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Having won just once in 18 home games this season, Ipswich’s sole Premier League victory at Portman Road came against Chelsea in December. As they brace for a return to the Championship, McKenna hopes to keep his squad’s core intact for a promotion push next season, though key players like top scorer Liam Delap, eyed by Manchester United and Newcastle, may depart this summer.

Meanwhile, West Ham, led by Graham Potter since January, have had an inconsistent run. The former Chelsea and Swansea boss has secured just four wins in 18 matches, with nine losses. Their latest setback came against Nottingham Forest, who triumphed in East London with goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Nikola Milenkovic.

Jarrod Bowen, scoring a late consolation against Forest, has now netted 13 goals this season, aiming to solidify his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup. With only one win in their last 10 league games, West Ham sit 15th and could slip to 17th depending on the final round’s results.

Despite their struggles, the Hammers have shown they can secure big away wins, including victories at Arsenal in February and Manchester United earlier this month.
