Inter Milan, leading in Serie A, aim to uphold their impressive league streak as they prepare to host Lecce at San Siro in their second-to-last match of the year.

Despite a surprising setback in the Coppa Italia recently, Simone Inzaghi's team remains determined after a disappointing outcome against Bologna. They're eager to rebound in the 17th gameweek after a frustrating loss.

Their elimination in the domestic cup by Bologna marked the end of their hopes for a third consecutive title, leaving Inter with a lingering disappointment toward this opponent. Despite their dominance throughout the match, including Lautaro Martinez's missed penalty, they succumbed to goals from Sam Beukema and Dan Ndoye after initially taking the lead in extra time following Carlos Augusto's 92nd-minute goal.

Having previously drawn 2-2 with Bologna after falling two goals behind in their October league fixture at San Siro, Inter's recent encounters with the Rossoblu haven't been consistently favorable, with just one victory in their last five meetings.

Looking ahead, Inzaghi's squad is eager to return to winning ways in their final home game of the year in Serie A, especially after their midweek disappointment. Their past three victories in front of their home crowd have been without conceding, offering hope to fans for another uplifting performance that leaves them celebrating at the end of the match.

Regarding Lecce, their recent performances away from home don't inspire much confidence ahead of Saturday's match against the league-leading team.

Even though Roberto D'Aversa's team hasn't suffered a defeat in the last five games, their inability to secure wins when playing away puts them at a disadvantage as they head to San Siro for the 17th round.

Lecce has had five draws on the road, trailing only behind Bologna (with six draws). While another draw against Inter might be seen as acceptable, D'Aversa's team aims to change their fortunes in the latter part of the season.

Saturday presents another opportunity for Lecce to continue their streak of scoring in four consecutive away games and in all but one of their seven matches on the road in the 2023-24 season - a 1-0 loss to Juventus.

Despite holding Fiorentina in Florence, beating Monza, and coming close to defeating Jose Mourinho's Roma side in their own turf, facing Inter poses their toughest challenge away from home.

Martinez's availability for Saturday's match is uncertain due to a suspected thigh injury sustained during the Bologna game, potentially paving the way for Marko Arnautovic to partner with Marcus Thuram.

Inter will be missing Juan Cuadrado, Stefan de Vrij, Denzel Dumfries, and Alexis Sanchez due to injuries as they host Lecce.

Pontus Almqvist is unlikely to play, while Patrick Dorgu, Hamza Rafia, and Marin Pongracic might be available for Lecce's Saturday game against Inter.

Although Lameck Banda didn't score in Lecce's recent victory, his performance against Frosinone was impressive, indicating he's likely to start as a wide attacker at San Siro.
