They have reached the last 16 of this tournament for the second consecutive season, having progressed past this stage last year with a 5-3 aggregate win over Nashville SC.

This will be only their second encounter with an MLS team in this tournament. Their first ended in a heavy defeat, as they lost 6-0 on aggregate to FC Cincinnati last year, including a 4-0 loss on the road.
