F1 next moves to the iconic city strip for the second edition of the Las Vegas Grand Prix and the 22 round of the 2024 season.

Asked if he wanted to quit Mercedes after failing to finish in the top five in the Interlagos race a couple of weeks ago, Hamilton got the better of team-mate George Russell by 0.396 sec in the first two runs on the Strip, before beating McLaren ’s Lando Norris by 0.011 sec in the second session to top both sessions.

Norris needs to collect at least three points more than the 62-point difference to continue the fight for the championship to Qatar, the penultimate Grand Prix of the season. Verstappen was just 17th in the second practice, two seconds slower than Hamilton. Carlos Sainz made it into the top five for Ferrari and for the first time since his move to the team, came ahead of his teammate Charles Leclerc who placed fifth.
The race gives Red Bull driver Max Verstappen his first chance to clinch the 2024 championship, thanks to an extension of the lead by 62 points in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

In other news, Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez ended up even further down in P19, while championship leader Max Verstappen, who may win his fourth championship this weekend, was resigned to P17 after concentrating on finding speed on the medium tires.

Based on travel data and ticket sales, the Las Vegas Grand Prix anticipates more than 300,000 spectators throughout the course of the race weekend in 2024. The high-speed thrills of the race itself as well as a variety of race-themed activations will draw crowds of fans to the Strip.
