vs. Zalgiris: Evaluation and ForecastIn the fifteenth round of the EuroLeague, Fenerbahce will host Zalgiris.
The players of Fenerbahce have reacted favorably to the new coaching staff. The team has won both games under Sarunas Jasikevicius's leadership. They defeated Monaco and Turk Telekom to win in the Turkish Super League as well as the EuroLeague.
Fenerbahce's administration made the decision to swap head coach after the team's early-season performance was a little below expectations. Dimitris Itoudis has been replaced as the team's leader by Sarunas Jasikevicius. Although everything appears to be going well thus far, it is too soon to make any judgments. The bond between Jasikevicius and the men he coached in Barcelona—Nick Calathes, Sertac Sanli, and Nigel Hayes-Davis, for example—will be intriguing because of how amicably they parted ways.
They now play the Zalgiris team, who have had a difficult start to the season and have had considerable difficulties with both their performance and gameplay. Because of the home crowd and their overall superior team quality, we think the hosts will easily score a victory.
Zalgiris is struggling, particularly in the EuroLeague. Zalgiris has lost four games in a row in the toughest European club league. In their most recent defeat, they were playing at home against Partizan, and they hardly ever posed a danger to the guests.
There has been a lot of upheaval as a result of these subpar performances; talks have even raised the possibility of head coach Kazys Maksvytis being fired. But it didn't happen, allegedly because the players objected to the coach being fired. The management caved in this time and dropped the planned adjustment, but probably only until the next chance. To be honest, this Zalgiris club is among the poorest in the entire EuroLeague; not many of their players would be improvements for other teams that were playing.
As previously stated, Kazys Maksvytis will be under a lot of strain, and it is unclear how the players will respond to this. Zalgiris' problem is that they find it difficult to perform better than what they are now displaying, even when they want to.
As previously shown, there is a notable quality differential in favor of the host club, who also gets to play on their home floor. Coach Sarunas Jasikevicius will be even more inspired to show off his coaching prowess against a group he was both a player and coach for. Although we think he will win, we are moving more toward forecasting that the game will end with more than 156 points.
