EPL goes back to Goodison Park for the second time this week with Everton challenging Tottenham Hotspur on the Sunday evening fixtures.

This will only be the second game of David Moyes as manager in his second spell at the club, and Ange Postecoglou has been assured his future is not at Tottenham despite their poor form in the league.

It was more of the same for Everton under new management, as their match against Aston Villa on Wednesday night was a classic example of a lost opportunity in the final ten minutes when the Toffees yet again threw away a chance of a vitally important point.

No such luxury came Moyes’ way this time round though, and Calvert-Lewin missed a penalty in the stoppage time, which made it 1-0 to the home side, and their first victory in the last six away games.

And that stretched Everton’s misery against Villa; the Toffees have not beaten the Villans in their last 12 league encounters and their overall record in the Premier League now stands at only one win in 12 matches.

Evan at this stage of the campaign, seven goals from open play in 20 matches is Everton’s worst so far in the Premier League and three straight recent losses at that.

Everton are now the fourth team in PL history to fail to score in as many as 12 out of their twenty initial matches of a season, and after the first match, Moyes was realistic and clear about the condition of the team.

New manager wants immediate changes to the squad and appears to have little faith in the current crop to help prevent them from being relegated.

Wolves, Leicester City, and Ipswich Town all suffered midweek losses, fortunately for the Toffees, who now sit in 16th place, one point above the drop zone, ahead of two more pivotal home games before the rescheduled Merseyside derby next month.

On February 1, Everton will host Leicester at Goodison, but first up is a Spurs squad that is only two spots behind them in the Premier League standings going into the weekend.

That was due to Tottenham's 2-1 loss at the Emirates in the North London derby in midweek, which marked just their fifth home and away loss to Arsenal in the same Premier League season.

Son Heung-min gave Postecoglou's squad the lead, but the Gunners quickly turned the tide of the match courtesy to an unlucky own goal by Dominic Solanke and an error by Antonin Kinsky that allowed Leandro Trossard to score.

West Ham United and Manchester United also defeated Spurs over the week, bringing Postecoglou's team level on points with 15th-place Crystal Palace. That was the team's sixth defeat in 11 games.

According to sources on Friday, the Spurs board is still behind the manager, so even if the pressure has increased and Postecoglou is now the front-runner to be fired next in the Premier League, this game has not been deemed "do or die" for the Australian manager.

James Garner returned to full training after suffering a back injury in October, and this weekend, Everton could welcome him back to the squad for the first time in more than three months.

The primary creative spark However, Seamus Coleman, Dwight McNeil, and the young players Tim Iroegbunam and Youssef Chermiti will not arrive in time.

After hurting his ankle ligaments during last week's FA Cup victory over Peterborough United, Armando Broja will be out for the next three months. However, it is still unclear if Everton will pay off the remainder of his loan agreement and send him back to Chelsea so they can sign another loanee this month.

Following their loss to Arsenal on Wednesday, Spurs have a number of injury concerns, including Yves Bissouma and Brennan Johnson in question.

However, Ben Davies should play after missing almost six weeks due to a hamstring injury, while Richarlison, a former Everton player, will be hoping for additional playing time after scoring three goals against his former employers last season after making a comeback on Wednesday.
