Bayern Munich, whose hopes for Champions League victory were dashed on Wednesday, will host Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park in a Bundesliga match.

Die Adler are now second with 12 from five league matches, while the away side is first with 13 but suffered their first defeat of the season to Aston Villa in the Champions League before this match.

The hosts have won their last four Bundesliga matches and succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the first match of the 2024-25 season on August 24, though they triumphed 4-2 over Holstein Kiel in their latest league outing on September 29.

Even though Holstein Kiel scored two goals and made their overall formations work, they had no real big opportunities from open play in the match and were level 2-2 after 50 minutes, but Eintracht Frankfurt turned things around in the second half and scored three goals netting all crucial points.

Or in the Thursday night game the Eagles triumphed over the Besiktas with the scoreline of 3-1 in the Europa League and the Polish side was leading 3-0 before the Turkish outfit pulled a rate in the 93rd minute.

Boss Dino Toppmoller expressed satisfaction over the team’s dominance of the game from an attacking and defensive view point though he must be worried by the fact that Besiktas was better placed in terms of expected goal count.

Toppmoller’s men have won only five of their last six games across all competitions despite their rocky home form in the past twelve months – four wins, six draws and two losses at the former Deutsche Bank Park.

Of the 18 top-flight clubs, the average possession in the league is 52% and, interestingly, Eintracht Frankfurt have achieved the second most big chances by creating them averaging 42% possession, which ranks fifth-lowest in the league.

The Bavarians, on the other hand, might enter Sunday's match dejected after suffering a 1-0 home loss to Unai Emery's Aston Villa, their first defeat of the season.

The lone goal of the match was scored in the 79th minute when Jhon Duran scored from long range after goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was taken off guard by Pau Torres, who broke through Bayern's defense.

After his team's loss, Kompany expressed his disgust, saying he thought his team was always one step too late. Harry Kane also expressed his displeasure, complaining about the lack of support in the last third of the game.

Bayern is now the greatest offensive and third-best defensive side in the division after winning all five of their Bundesliga games. They have also scored 17 goals and given up only four goals.

The German powerhouses held the league leaders Bayer Leverkusen to just three shots in their most recent meeting, which ended in a 1-1 draw on September 28.

This season, Kompany's team has performed well away from home, winning four of their five away games. However, coming into these games, they had lost seven, drawn two, and won two of their previous eleven away games.

Mehdi Loune and Oscar Hojlund, two midfielders for the hosts, won't return until late October and late December, respectively.

Toppmoller may continue to choose Kaua Santos in goalkeeper Kevin Trapp's place despite the fact that the goalkeeper could make a comeback in the coming days. Trapp suffered a hip injury on September 14.

Rasmus Kristensen and Arthur Theate could start for the Eagles at right and left back, respectively, with Tuta and Robin Koch most likely being chosen to play center back.

Due to an injury, Mario Gotze was replaced at halftime versus Besiktas; Fares Chaibi may take his place.

The German football association has punished Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich for making mocking remarks against Bayer Leverkusen director Simon Rolfes.

Sacha Boey, the defender, is probably going to be sidelined until December, while Jamal Musiala and Josip Stanisic should be back in late October and late November, respectively.

Defender Hiroki Ito is definitely out, although his absence should be limited to a few more days at most.

center-back After his team's loss to Villa, Dayot Upamecano received criticism for his play. It would be fascinating to watch if Kompany decides to bench him on Sunday.
