Targeting a move higher in the Premier League table, Crystal Palace host Newcastle United in a match on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles managed to get a point after a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa the previous weekend while the Magpies were hammered 2-0 by West Ham United on the Monday.
Crystal Palace attained a total of 24 points from each of the 13 matches in the last season of premier league with Oliver Glasner, and the eagles fans wanted to make the performance of 10th this term hassle free.
However, Glasner and co have claimed only eight points in their debut dozen of the top-flight encounters, with the only league triumph registered at the cost of Tottenham Hotspur (1-0) on October 27 accompanied by two draws and a loss in the last three league fixtures.
Palace were seemingly on course to grab three priceless points away against Aston Villa last weekend as they were leading 2-1 on the hour mark, thanks to goals from Ismaila Sarr and Justin Devenny the latter hailed the home after scoring his first PL goal. But later on in the seventeenth minute, Ross Barkley honored a header and thereby forced the two teams into a stalemate.
Languishing at the 19th position in the table and barely out of relegation zone on a mouse - while Newcastle have been generally good but were beaten quite comfortably by palace towards the end of last season with a 2-0 score line. The last time the Eagles defeated the Magpies consecutive was in 1971 and 1972: a streak of three.
However, if Palace wants to win this weekend, they will need to improve their home performance. After six games, they have the second-fewest Premier League points (five) in front of their own supporters, and only three of their ten top-flight goals have been scored at home, which is a league-low total and percentage (30%) in the division so far.
West Ham pulled Newcastle back to earth on Monday after they had won three straight games, including a 2-0 EFL Cup victory over Chelsea and consecutive Premier League winners against Arsenal (1-0) and Nottingham Forest (3-1).
The Magpies' fourth league loss of the season was caused by goals from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tomas Soucek either side of halftime. Although manager Eddie Howe was "pretty pleased" with his team's performance in the first sixty minutes, he "didn't enjoy" the second half and was ultimately left to blame "individual mistakes" for both goals given up.
Newcastle is now ranked 10th in the Premier League rankings with 18 points from 12 games, but a strong run of play over the next several weeks would propel them up to the top four, just four points behind the top four and five behind a struggling Man City in second place.
However, despite having an eight-game unbeaten run in the city from October 2022 to October 2023 (W4 D4), the Magpies have had a difficult time traveling to the capital, losing six of their eight trips.
Newcastle, who had won each of their opening four away games against Crystal Palace in the Premier League, has also had little success at Selhurst Park, winning only one of their last nine Premier League visits (D5 L3).
