Connecticut has only earned one victory in its five away games, which coincidentally came against the Indiana Fever. All four of the other away games were lost. Nevertheless, the Sun continue to be a troublesome opponent for Indiana despite their recent collapse. Connecticut has dominated in head-to-head matches, defeating the Fever 14 times in the last 15 games, including the last three straight.

Indiana Fever
The Indiana Fever are in gradual motion this season. The team has a balanced scorecard of 5-5 after 10 games after sitting at third place in the Eastern Conference and sixth place in the entire league.

Their last victory was particularly stunning-Indiana beat the defenders, the New York Liberty at home to tie them up in only their second loss in this season with a blistering 102/88 result. That game was carried by its star Caitlin Clark who had an outstanding performance scoring 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists.

The win also became the second success of the season at home, as before that the Indiana team also dealt with the Washington Mystics with assurance, 85-76. In total, the Fever has five wins, three of which occurred in the last four matches, and the other loss happened away in Atlanta Dream in 58-77.

But the following match poses a difficult mission-Connecticut Sun, which has already proven to be dominant in this game. Across the previous seven games against the Fever in Indianapolis, the team has only won once, losing the remaining six matches. Worse still, the teams have faced each other this season as Connecticut narrowly defeated Indiana in a high scoring finish, 85-83.

Fresh off a commanding 102-88 victory against the reigning champions, the New York Liberty, the Indiana Fever are riding high. They checked all the right boxes: halting a sizzling nine-game win streak, finding their offensive groove, and leveraging Caitlin Clark’s dynamic energy in critical moments.

Without Clark, the Fever struggled, dropping three of their last five games. But with her back in the lineup, they’ve been unstoppable, becoming the only team to score 80+ points against the Liberty twice this season. Clark delivered a stellar performance, dropping 32 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and dishing out 7 assists, including seven three-pointers. Kelsey Mitchell also stepped up, erupting for 22 points, particularly in the clutch.

With a few adjustments, the Fever have the potential to emerge as a top-tier team. They must continue to harness the “Caitlin Clark effect” to elevate their game.

Connecticut Sun
Connecticut Sun have failed to satisfy the fans through the season. The team last two games lost were in big scores first, they were trounced at road by the Washington Mystics, 67-104 and then surprisingly lost with the Chicago sky, 66-78, one that also has been inconsistent. The team is ranked 12 th after the first 10 matches played, in the overall WNBA ranking with just 2 wins and 8 losses.

The Sun possess the worst offense in the league and they average only 71.3 points per game. They are also second-to-last in points permitted, hosting an average of 88.2 points a game, a figure that only Dallas Wings managed to be worse at.

The Connecticut Sun are reeling after a 12-point defeat (66-78) to the Chicago Sky, despite Marina Mabrey’s 22-point effort. Mabrey, Tina Charles, and Jacy Sheldon combined for 53 points, but the rest of the starting lineup managed just 13 points—a recurring theme for a team plagued by limited depth.

This loss marked their second consecutive defeat, following a brutal six-game losing streak earlier in the season. Six of their eight losses have been by double digits, with five of those by 20+ points. This challenging season aligns with expectations, as the Sun appear to be positioning themselves for a high pick in the talent-rich 2025 draft. The struggles may prove worthwhile if they land a game-changing prospect.
