Congo's World Cup qualification campaign will resume on Tuesday when they play Morocco at Agadir's Grand Stadium.
The game will now take place in Morocco instead in Kinshasa, where the original plan called for the site to be. FIFA rejected this idea.
Since FIFA had not approved the construction of their planned stadium in Brazzaville, Congo was scheduled to face Niger in a neutral stadium in Kinshasa. But Congo's last-minute request to shift the game to Brazzaville, which Niger turned down, resulted in the cancellation of the match.
Additionally, the Red Devils' next matchup with Morocco has been moved. The game, which was originally slated to take place in Kinshasa, will instead take place at Agadir's Grand Stadium in Morocco. The official reason for the site change has not yet been revealed.
Since their 4-2 loss to Zambia in November, the Central Africans have not participated in a World Cup qualifying match since Eritrea, their second opponent, withdrew from the competition.
But Isaac Ngata's team did play an international friendly back in March at the Stade des Marais in France, when they drew 1-1 with Gabon.
Congo is without a point in Group E heading into Tuesday's match and has lost their past four games overall. Since September 2022, they have only prevailed once in their previous seven competitive games.
With two losses and one tie in their three meetings, the hosts have a dismal record against Morocco.
Morocco defeated Zambia 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier on Friday to resume competitive play following their unexpected loss to South Africa in the Africa Cup of Nations semifinals.
Hakim Ziyech's penalty kick in the sixth minute gave the Atlas Lions the lead, which they doubled in the 67th minute thanks to Eliesse Ben Seghir. Zambia managed to rally via Edward Chilufya, but Morocco managed to hold on for the victory.
With six points after two games, Morocco leads Group E at the moment, three points ahead of the following three teams.
Walid Regragui's team will be keen to advance to the 2026 World Cup after their amazing performance in Qatar during the 2022 tournament. The change in location has also increased their chances of winning all three points against Congo.
