On Saturday night, Manchester City will play a preseason friendly against Chelsea, a Premier League foe, to wrap off their preparations for the upcoming season.

The last time Chelsea played, they defeated Club America 3-0 on Wednesday, while Pep Guardiola's team drew 2-2 with Barcelona on Tuesday.

Man City's preseason has not produced the outcomes or performances that Guardiola would have hoped for, although it is hard to place too much emphasis on it given the absence of several important players due to international duty.

In fact, the English champions, who lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United 2-1 the previous year, started the preseason with a 4-3 loss to Celtic and lost their second tour match, 3-2, to AC Milan.

Tuesday saw Man City draw 2-2 with Barcelona before the Catalan team prevailed 4-1 on penalties. Despite this setback, Man City performed better, as Jack Grealish and Nico O'Reilly both scored.

Guardiola's team will now play Chelsea to wrap off their US trip before returning to England to get ready for the Community Shield, which takes place on August 10 against Man United.

This game is a practise run for Man City's Premier League championship defence, which starts on August 18 when they go to Chelsea. That encounter is expected to be a thrilling affair.

Chelsea, on the other hand, drew 2-2 with Wrexham to begin the preseason before losing 4-1 to Celtic in their second match on the US Tour.

Nevertheless, the Blues managed to record a win on Wednesday, defeating Club America 3-0 with goals from Marc Guiu, Noni Madueke, and Christopher Nkunku.

This match is the first of two games that Enzo Maresca's team will play in the United States this summer. On August 6, they will play Real Madrid, and on August 11, they will return to England for their last summer friendly against Inter Milan.

As already reported, Chelsea will kick off their new league season against Man City. Additionally, next season will see European football at Stamford Bridge as the London club will compete in the Conference League.

The Blues have been active in the summer transfer season, adding Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal as their most recent addition. However, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City remains their greatest acquisition of the market in terms of transfer money.

However, Erling Haaland is in the squad and will likely start at the front of the line. James McAtee, Oscar Bobb, and Grealish may also be used as the three players behind the Norway international.

Regarding Chelsea, Jorgensen may play in his first game as a complete player on Saturday after coming on as a halftime substitution vs Club America.

Enzo Fernandez returned to the team on Wednesday, playing off the bench. It is anticipated that he will again be used as a substitute in this match.

Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana will probably be added to the defense, which means that the starting lineup will change. However, Guiu should remain at the forefront of the attack as the summer arrival tries to persuade Maresca to keep him for the upcoming campaign rather than allow him to leave on loan.
