On Saturday afternoon, Chelsea will host Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge in a Premier League matchup as they look to win four straight games overall.

At the Amex Stadium, the West Londoners defeated the Seagulls 2-1 to force a first-time meeting between the two teams in four months.

Chelsea has won all three of its games in all competitions by an aggregate score of 9-0 after fighting out a painful 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at home. This includes back-to-back Premier League victory against Bournemouth (1-0) and West Ham United (3-0).

After five games this season, Brighton is one of just four Premier League clubs currently undefeated. Last Saturday, at the Amex Stadium, Brighton and Nottingham Forest played to a furious 2-2 draw.

Brighton led 2-1 at halftime thanks to goals from Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck in a match that saw both managers sent off and saw Morgan Gibbs-White controversially dismissed late in the game. However, a goal from Ramon Sosa in the 70th minute ultimately gave Nuno Espirito Santo's team a point.

When Brighton plays Chelsea on Saturday, Fabian Hurzeler won't be in the dugout because the FA has accused him of "acting in an improper manner" during the last-minute circumstances of the draw last weekend.

As a result, Seagulls assistant coach Andrew Crofts will take charge at Stamford Bridge. He feels that the first team group has "a lot to learn, review, analyse and grow from" the draw with Forest.

Brighton, which has only previously won three of their previous 23 encounters with the West Londoners in all competitions, will be out for revenge against Chelsea after they were defeated by the Blues both at home and away last season.

Romeo Lavia is back available for selection after missing time due to a thigh issue, but Maresca has announced that captain Reece James is remains out for Chelsea as he recovers from a hamstring ailment.

Maresca is expected to revert to the same lineup that defeated West Ham last Saturday after making 11 changes during the midweek. However, Malo Gusto, who played the opening 45 minutes of the match against Barrow after returning from injury, may keep his starting position at right back.

Yasin Ayari, on the other hand, is fit to play again after missing the last game due to sickness, while Brajan Gruda, a summer addition, may make a comeback to the matchday squad following a period of time out with an undisclosed injury.

While other new transfer Yankuba Minteh will compete with Simon Adingra for a start on the right wing, midfielder Mats Wieffer will be looking to push his way back into the starting XI ahead of Carlos Baleba or Hinshelwood.

Georginio Rutter, the club record acquisition, is expected to play a more advanced role behind center striker Danny Welbeck in Pedro's absence.

After a significant summer transfer window makeover, Enzo Maresca's team seems to be gelling nicely. Maresca joined the team from Leicester at the end of the previous campaign.

With five wins in their past seven games across all competitions, the Italian seems to be checking off a lot of boxes thus far. Their only loss during that stretch came in their Conference League play-off second leg, where they still won the match on aggregate.

The Blues defeated Barrow 5-0 on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup, and they now sit fifth in the Premier League standings, three points behind the leaders, after winning their last three games. The team also defeated West Ham 3-0 in the London derby last weekend.
