Midfield star Josh Brownhill demonstrated absolute force during previous Championship seasons when he scored his 13th league goal through a classy 2-0 Clarets victory against Swansea City while Jaidon Anthony also notched a goal.

The two defeats they suffered during the first 38 matches have not prevented Scott Parker's team from reaching automatic promotion thus making Sheffield United their competition for second place.

The collective defensive strength of Burnley can thank their excellent performance coinciding with goalkeeper James Trafford eventually securing a call-up to the senior England team in March after their team conceded only 11 goals in 38 Championship matches.

Turf Moor has brought happiness to the team during 2024-25 as Burnley remains undefeated at home but the nine draws have stopped them from achieving top position.

Bristol City aims to compete in the playoff competition after spending almost a decade in the middle section of the Championship table as they approach the end of this season against another division front-runner.

During the last international week of the season the Robins delivered seven matches without defeat against league opponents including victories against Stoke City, Middlesbrough, Millwall and Norwich City at home.

Two weeks ago on a Friday night, Liam Manning’s side had the chance to make an early statement in the race for the top six when they faced Norwich City at home. The confident Robins delivered, with goals from Mark Sykes and Nahki Wells sealing a 2-1 victory.

With just one defeat in their last 11 Championship matches, Bristol City have risen above mid-table obscurity and now sit seventh in the standings—level on points with West Bromwich Albion, who currently hold the final playoff spot.

However, history suggests a tough challenge awaits them this weekend in Lancashire. The Robins have suffered eight consecutive defeats against Burnley across the Championship and FA Cup, with their last win in this fixture dating back to November 2011 at Ashton Gate.
