The Brooklyn Nets will be the first opponent the Cleveland Cavaliers face in the 2023–24 NBA season on Wednesday night.

After a busy summer of roster changes, speculation, and building excitement for the new campaign, the Cleveland Cavaliers are back in play. Cleveland's 2023–24 NBA season begins on the road against the Brooklyn Nets.

Excellent Beginning for Evan Mobley
The leap Evan Mobley could make in his third NBA season has been discussed a lot. Why not give him a major win on opening night?

Given that Jarrett Allen is already expected to miss the game against the Nets, Mobley is expected to see a lot of playing time as well as additional opportunities. Additionally, the Nets lack depth at center, which may lead to some mismatches—particularly if Mobley moves to the power forward position.

Although it will be thrilling to watch, Cleveland's big man, Evan Mobley, is dynamic enough to prevail in their matchup against Nic Claxton. With all of this, perhaps the Cavaliers' most important player might get off to a great start.

Spark Is Provided by Georges Niang
With Allen out of the lineup, Cleveland will be shorthanded to begin the season. This implies that in order for the Cavaliers to win their opening game, someone needs to step up. Why isn't it Georges Niang, the recent arrival?

If J.B. Bickerstaff decides to go with a starting lineup that does not feature a small-ball starting five, Niang may be easily started as the power forward. Niang will play a significant role even if he comes off the bench because the frontcourt is still sparse.

Niang might make a lot of large threes and create floor spacing in this game, which would hopefully result in a Cavs victory. Niang will have plenty of chances to start on Wednesday night, even though he won't be a player who regularly scores 15 points a night.

Cavaliers Win on Opening Night
The Brooklyn Nets feature seasoned players like Spencer Dinwiddie and Ben Simmons in addition to a strong young core that includes Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, and Cam Thomas. On paper, though, the Cavs still have a superior team.

With Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland (if he plays), Cleveland has an All-Star starting backcourt. Cleveland's bench depth, which can facilitate separation when on the court, might be the true differentiator.

Cleveland will be able to open the season 1-0 with all of this.
