Brentford hosts West Ham United on Saturday afternoon in the Gtech Community Stadium in a match between two Premier League teams looking to go back to winning ways.

After five games, the Hammers are three points and two spots behind the Bees in 12th position in the top division table, with seven points.

Brentford may have dropped their first three away Premier League games of the season, but they were against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, and Liverpool, and all three teams gave it their best. Head coach Thomas Frank will have been pleased with his team's performance, especially the last two.

Just like they did against Man City, the Bees were off to a fast start against Tottenham, scoring their second straight league goal in the first twenty-three seconds thanks to a volley from Bryan Mbeumo. But they surrendered their early advantage once more, as Spurs rallied for a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, and James Maddison.

Despite the fact that Frank saw "a lot of positives" in his team's bravery and performance, the Dane has urged his players to "do better" in specific areas to make sure they fulfill their responsibilities for the full 90 minutes.

Brentford, who has won three games in all competitions this season—two in the Premier League against Crystal Palace (2-1) and Southampton (3-1) and one in the EFL Cup third round against Leyton Orient (3-1)—will be happy to return to the Gtech Community Stadium, where they currently hold a perfect record.

In addition, the Bees have triumphed three times as a Premier League team in their last five home games against West Ham. They have also scored two goals or more in each of their six Premier League games against the Hammers, which ties Arsenal for the most times in division history when both teams have faced off and scored multiple goals every time (also six against Reading).

After investing over £120m and bringing in nine new first-team players during the summer, West Ham fans had high hopes for the season. However, new head coach Julen Lopetegui has struggled to find the right formula for success so far.

In fact, West Ham has only managed two wins in their first seven matches across all competitions, and they have started the season with three consecutive home league losses for the first time in the club's history, with the latest being a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea last weekend.

Their recent struggles continued with a 5-1 loss to reigning champions Liverpool in the third round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday. Lopetegui, who left Anfield on crutches after injuring his calf in frustration, insisted that the heavy defeat did not accurately reflect his team’s performance.

The pressure is mounting on the Spanish coach, and he will need positive results in the upcoming Premier League fixtures against Brentford and newly-promoted Ipswich Town before the next international break. However, a win against Brentford is far from certain.

West Ham lost their first five Premier League matches against Brentford, but a hat-trick from Jarrod Bowen helped secure a 4-2 victory at the London Stadium in their last meeting in February.

Following back-to-back league losses in recent weeks—albeit both on the road against Manchester City and Tottenham—Thomas Frank's team will be eager to get back to their home stadium, where they enjoy a perfect record this season.

With six points from five games, the west London squad is now ranked 12th in the standings. However, their three losses have come against teams that were in the top five last season. Saturday represents an opportunity to continue their impressive home run.
