Bournemouth host relegated Leicester City at the Vitality Stadium for their last Premier League match of the 2024-25 season on Sunday.

The Cherries are eager to settle the score after a 1-0 loss to the Foxes in their earlier meeting at the King Power Stadium in October 2024. Bournemouth had ambitions of securing a historic European spot, climbing as high as fifth in the league by late February.

However, their form has slumped, with only two victories in their last 12 games (D4 L6). Following a 2-1 win over Arsenal, they suffered consecutive losses to Aston Villa (1-0) and Manchester City (3-1), the latter on Tuesday dashing their hopes of a top-eight finish for Conference League qualification.

Under Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth have achieved a club-record 53 points in the Premier League this season but risk slipping out of the top 10, currently sitting 11th, one point behind Fulham, who face Manchester City on the final day.

The Cherries have struggled at home recently, losing five of their last seven league games at the Vitality Stadium and scoring just four goals in that span. Since February, only relegated Ipswich Town (six losses) have fared worse at home.

Bournemouth have ended their season with a loss in four of their seven Premier League campaigns (W2 D1), but they are unbeaten in all six of their home Premier League games against Leicester (W4 D2), winning the last three with a combined score of 10-4.

Leicester, already relegated after a loss to champions Liverpool in late April and a subsequent 24th defeat to Wolves, have shown late resilience with a three-game unbeaten streak—their best run this season. They secured 2-0 wins over relegated Southampton and Ipswich, sandwiching a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest. Jamie Vardy marked his 500th appearance for Leicester with his 200th goal against Ipswich.

The Foxes can secure 18th place with at least a draw against Bournemouth, but uncertainty surrounds head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, with reports indicating he may depart after the season. Leicester’s earlier 1-0 win over Bournemouth this season was one of their six Premier League victories, and they now aim for their first league double over the Cherries since the 2013-14 Championship season.

Leicester have lost their final match in four of the last seven seasons (W2 D1), though they won their last two as a Premier League side, beating Southampton in 2021-22 and West Ham in 2022-23.
