In a pivotal Bundesliga clash with European qualification implications, Borussia Monchengladbach will host RB Leipzig at Borussia Park this Saturday.

The home side currently sits in seventh place with 40 points, coming off a 4-2 victory over Werder Bremen on March 15. Meanwhile, Leipzig occupies fifth place with 42 points, trailing the league’s fourth and final Champions League qualification spot by just three points.

Monchengladbach were somewhat fortunate to concede only twice against Werder Bremen, having faced six clear-cut chances while creating just three of their own.

Defensively, Die Fohlen have struggled, conceding eight goals in their last four outings. Their total expected goals against (xGA) stands at 48.3 for the season—one of the highest in the Bundesliga.

Gerardo Seoane’s squad is two points behind sixth-placed Freiburg, who hold the Conference League qualification spot. However, with only 36 goals scored, Monchengladbach has the weakest attacking record among the league’s top eight teams.

Despite suffering two defeats in their last four matches, Monchengladbach have won five and drawn one of their previous eight. However, their recent home form is concerning, with two losses and one draw in their last three games at Borussia Park, where they have conceded seven goals while scoring just twice.

RB Leipzig, on the other hand, secured a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund on March 15, though they had their fair share of luck, having allowed eight big chances and over three expected goals (xG) against them.

Manager Marco Rose is under increasing scrutiny due to Leipzig’s inconsistent performances since November. With the team managing just eight goals in their last nine matches, the pressure on Rose’s position remains high.

In the rematch on November 9, Leipzig was kept to a scoreless tie by Borussia Monchengladbach; nonetheless, the draw extended their winning streak against the hosts to four games, with the visitors winning three of those games.

Although they have drawn four times and failed to score in three of their last eight games, Die Roten Bullen deserves praise for having only lost once in that time.

With his club losing seven, drawing four, and winning just one of their previous 12 away games, Rose will be concerned about his team's weakness on the road. They have also failed to score in their last three away games.
