Boavista are now on 18th Primera Liga match and they are scheduled to entertain Casa Pia at Estadio do Bessa after a poor first half of the season.
The hosts arrive at this game at the relegation zone with 12 points below their rivals, three points away from the safety zone; they have not won a match in their past seven fixtures.
For Boavista, the season 2024-25 has been more than unkind, winning only 2 of 17 rounds of the Primera Liga, the last victory of which was on November 11 on the territory of Gil Vicente, after which, in three starts, Boavista achieved only 3 draws and suffered 4 defeats, including in the most recent rounds.
Before that win Os Axadrezados took even more time – nine games in all competitions without a victory and eight of them in the top division.
Boavista continued to feel the pinch on their poor run in the last match they played, a match at home they were unable to translate to advantage over Arouca that was defeat by 3-1 in the fixture involving the two struggling teams.
Cristiano Bacci’s men will now have their backs against the wall and face another difficult test from Casa Pia whose last two away games have been victories in the top tier though it was QtCore one win in the current campaign came against the Geese in the first round 1-0 win at the Estadio Pina Manique.
But getting that kind of result may not be easy especially now they force As Panteras have been experiencing at the Bessa, where they rank as the division’s basement dwellers with the worst home league form; having not emerged as winners in any of their home matches.
Encouraged by their recent performance, which has seen them win three of their past five league games, the visitors will be keen to further Boavista's problems. However, their winning streak came to an end with a 1-1 draw against Famalicao in their most recent match.
Joao Goulart gave Os Gansos the lead in the 18th minute, putting them on course for a fourth consecutive win. However, Oscar Aranda tied the score 16 minutes later, ending their winning streak.
Casa Pia now needs another winning run to rekindle hopes of earning their first-ever European qualifying after the setback dropped them to seventh place in the standings with 24 points, seven points behind fourth-place Braga, who hold the Conference League berth.
The Geese, who have won three of their past five away games in all competitions, will seek for an even better result this time around after avoiding defeat in both of their previous trips to the Bessa, recording draws each time.
Casa Pia's participation in the competition came to an end when they lost 3-1 at home to Rio Ave in the Taca de Portugal round of 16.
Boavista will be missing Sebastian Perez, who was given a red card in that match, but they will welcome back Rodrigo Abascal, a defender who missed the previous game owing to a string of yellow cards.
Ibrahima Camara now has a spot in midfield, where he might play a double-pivot role alongside Ilija Vukotic.
Joel Silva is doubtful for this match, and Bacci is still missing Joao Goncalves and 20-year-old Luis Pires, who are both continuing their protracted absences due to knee ailments.
