One of the most important individual football trophies that a soccer player may win each year is the Ballon d'Or. In 2023, France Football will celebrate the 67th year of their Golden Ball award, which was first given out in 1956.

Lionel Messi is aiming to win a record-breaking eighth trophy this season, but Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are among the opponents the empyrean Argentine must contend with. Recent champions Luka Modric and Karim Benzema are in the race, while five-time winner Cristiano Ronaldo did not earn a nomination.

The 2023 Ballon d'Or ceremony will be held at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France, on Monday, October 30, 2023.
