Valencia is aiming to rediscover their winning form in La Liga as they prepare to visit Mendizorrotza Stadium for a clash against Alaves on Saturday evening.

Valencia's last outing was a 2-1 defeat at home to Osasuna, while Alaves suffered a 1-0 loss against Getafe in their recent match in the top-tier Spanish league.

Alaves secured their return to La Liga through the Segunda Division playoffs last season, focusing on establishing themselves in the top flight this year.

After a 1-0 loss to Cadiz in their first game of the season, Alaves had an exhilarating 4-3 victory against Sevilla in front of their home crowd. However, they couldn't maintain the momentum and were defeated 1-0 by Getafe, leaving them in the 14th position with three points in the league table.

Alaves, bolstered by ten new signings and several departures, look to capitalize on their home advantage. Their home performance will likely play a pivotal role in their bid to retain their position in the division.

Valencia began their 2023-24 La Liga campaign with successive wins against Sevilla and Las Palmas. However, they stumbled with a 2-1 loss to Osasuna at home in their most recent match.

Despite the setback, Valencia has shown promise, occupying the sixth spot with six points. They are striving to overcome the challenges of the previous challenging 2022-23 season, during which they finished 16th in La Liga, their lowest position since relegation in 1985-86.

Valencia's recent record against Alaves is modest, with only one win in their last five league encounters. In their previous meeting during the 2021-22 season, Valencia was defeated 2-1 by Alaves.

Following their promotion through the playoffs, Alaves, led by Luis Garcia Plata, is anticipated to engage in a battle to avoid relegation once more. They have displayed a tendency for a defensive approach in their away games this season, losing 1-0 to both Cadiz and Getafe. Their victory against Sevilla demonstrated their ability to challenge stronger teams, although Sevilla has struggled at the start of the season.

Under the management of Ruben Baraja, Valencia is also expected to contend with relegation, similar to the previous season. Despite off-field protests from fans against ownership, Valencia has exceeded expectations at the beginning of this campaign.

Valencia commenced the season with surprising back-to-back wins, even with players out of position. They defeated Sevilla 2-1 at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and secured a narrow victory against newly-promoted Las Palmas. However, their momentum was halted by a late 2-1 loss to Osasuna at Mestalla.

In their upcoming fixture, Alaves will host Valencia at Estadio de Mendizorroza. Alaves is entering the game after a series of mixed performances following their promotion, placing 14th after a 1-0 defeat to Getafe in their last league match.

Valencia, on the other hand, arrives at the match with two positive results before their recent setback, holding the sixth position despite a 2-1 loss to Osasuna.

Their most recent encounter was a friendly match in July, where Valencia secured a 2-0 victory.

Alaves boasts an unbeaten record of five games against Valencia at their venue and has emerged victorious in two of those instances.
