The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is expected to be an exciting conclusion to the 2024 Formula One season. Max Verstappen of Red Bull has already won the Driver's Championship, but the Constructors' Championship, the team title, is still up for grabs.

Looking at the current season I still found myself in Bahrain in which the season has now drew to a close in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. There will still be a race for the constructors’ title for two teams, and Lewis Hamilton will still race for Mercedes for one last time after 23 Grands Prix weekends.

In the same way, 2023 will highlight that Ferrari will be again in a Final Final battle, but this time the main title is at stake for the Scuderia based in Maranello. All in all a combination of strategies could potentially amount to 44 points next weekend and right now Ferrari is 21 behind McLaren following the Qatar GP. It will not be an easy win for the Woking-based side for Ferrari could cut into their lead here at the circuit they most despised, the Losail International Circuit.

Also these four drivers are not only run for the victory. As usual, the drivers’ championship notwithstanding and with the championship secured, it would never be enough for Max Verstappen to continue to taste the sweet nectar of victory at the Yas Marina Circuit and anywhere else for that matter. Especially during the Sprint, George Russell proved that he could remain within striking distance of the leading group, and Lewis Hamilton wants to end his journey with Mercedes after more than a decade on a high note.

It would be an action of Ferrari, just like they did at COTA and for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to remain in the lead they have to get at least 24 points. In that case one has to finish third while the other finishes sixth to score, McLaren would have to also get the additional point for the fastest lap. Although finishing fourth and fifth with the extra point included would not be enough, as Ferrari did win one more Grand Prix in this case.

The 5.281-kilometer Yas Marina circuit hosts the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The drivers will travel little over 306 kilometers in 58 laps. Since 2020, Verstappen has won this race each year after starting in pole position.

Even a one-two finish from Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz plus a bonus point for the best lap would not be enough for Ferrari to win the championship, so the former will need to race exceptionally well and McLaren must perform poorly. Ferrari last won a championship in 2009, and McLaren last did so in 1998. Both teams are hoping to end their protracted title droughts.

Verstappen and George Russell of Mercedes have had several heated arguments in the run-up to this race. Tension arose as Verstappen was demoted from pole position and put in P2 behind the British driver following Russell's successful appeal to officials.
